Welcome to our Oath—the core principles that guide every decision we make as Maine Coon breeders. This document serves as our public promise to uphold the highest standards of health, integrity, and ethical responsibility in all aspects of our breeding program and cat husbandry.
1. Registration and Accountability
We proudly hold our cattery registration with TICA (The International Cat Association), found at tica.org.
TICA is a recognized, international governing body for pedigreed cats, setting standards for breed integrity, registration, and show rules worldwide. Our registration signifies that:
Integrity: Our breeding stock and kittens are officially recognized, pedigreed Maine Coons, not mixed-breeds.
Documentation: We adhere to strict record-keeping requirements for lineage, guaranteeing the authenticity and traceability of your kitten’s ancestry.
Commitment: By registering with TICA, we commit to following international rules and ethics designed to protect the welfare of the breed.
2. The Health and Genetic Pledge
Our commitment to health is the most critical part of our oath. We pledge that:
Comprehensive Screening: All breeding cats are tested and clear for known genetic disorders relevant to the Maine Coon breed, including a full DNA panel.
Cardiac Integrity: Every breeding cat undergoes specialized cardiac screening for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), ensuring we breed only from healthy hearts.
Structural Soundness: We evaluate our cats for Hip Dysplasia (HD), prioritizing optimal joint health.
Nutrition and Environment: We provide species-appropriate, high-quality nutrition and a clean, stimulating, and stress-free home-raised environment.
3. Ethical Breeding and Placement
We view ourselves as custodians of the Maine Coon breed. We pledge that:
No Cages: Our cats and kittens are raised freely within our personal residence, fully integrated into family life.
Exceptional Socialization: Kittens are exposed to diverse household sounds, children, and other pets (where applicable) from a young age, ensuring they are confident and well-adjusted.
Responsible Timing: Kittens will never leave our cattery before they are fully vaccinated, microchipped, litter-trained, and emotionally ready—typically between 12 and 16 weeks of age.
Lifetime Support: Our commitment does not end when you take your kitten home. We provide lifelong support and guidance to every adoptive family.
By adopting a kitten from us, you are choosing a partner dedicated to the ethical excellence and lifelong health of the magnificent Maine Coon.
